This may include creating a new not-for-profit organisation, deciding how it will operate, preparing governing documents, or understanding legal obligations and compliance requirements.
When we may be able to help
- You have already taken steps to set up your organisation (for example, researched different legal structures or prepared draft documents); and
- You need legal help with a specific issue or question; and
- The organisation has a charitable or community purpose; and
- You cannot access legal help elsewhere.
When we can’t help
- You want someone to guide you through the entire process of setting up a not-for-profit from scratch
- You haven’t decided what type of organisation you want to create or completed any initial planning
- You are looking for general information rather than legal help with a specific issue
If this is your situation, see below for resources and other places that may be able help.
