This option is if you have a civil legal problem not listed elsewhere in our ‘when we can help’ options. Whether we can help will depend on the impact of the issue, your circumstances, and whether other legal help is available.
When we may be able to help
- You are facing financial hardship or other difficulties (for example, illness, housing problems, or family violence); and
- The issue is having a serious effect on your life (for example, you could lose a large amount of money, your home or access to an important service, right or interest); and
- You have already tried other reasonable ways to resolve the problem, and legal assistance is your remaining option; and
- You cannot get legal help anywhere else

When we can’t help
- You have a native title matter
- You have a general dispute with your neighbours
- You have a complex business or commercial dispute
- You have a matter in a court outside of Queensland
- You have a dangerous animal dispute
- You need help with a domestic violence, protection order or a good behaviour order
- You have a child protection matter
- You want to enforce an order made at QCAT or the Magistrates Court
or
- The likely outcome does not justify the time and resources needed to legally pursue the matter
