LawRight is a not‑for‑profit community legal centre.
We provide free legal help to people and organisations with civil law matters.
To request our help, you will need to fill out our application form.
How the application form works
Our application form helps us:

- check if you have a problem we can help with
- check if you are eligible for our service
- understand your legal problem
After you apply:

- one of our lawyers will review your application
- we will usually contact you within 1 to 4 weeks to let you know if we can help
Before you apply
We can only help if you cannot get legal help anywhere else
You may be able to get help somewhere else if you can:
-
- pay for a lawyer (even for one‑off advice)
- get Legal Aid
- use a “no win, no fee” lawyer
If one of the above applies to you, another service may be a better option.
We can only help with some types of problems
We only help with certain areas of civil law. We are not the right service if your problem is about:

- Family law (for example: divorce, parenting arrangements, separation)
- Criminal law (charges made by police)
- Complex commercial disputes (for example: business or company disputes)
- Matters in courts outside Queensland
- Native title

Phone appointments are available on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. We cannot assess your application or provide legal advice over the phone, we can only fill out the application form with you. |
